The Conference

The  Unified Modeling  Language (UML) has rapidly become the 
"lingua-franca"  of the   software  design  and  development
community, both in industry and academia. The <<UML>> series
of  conferences  is  the premier  venue  for the exchange of 
innovative  technical ideas and experiences relating to UML. 
The  conference includes, among its active participants, the 
originators of UML and other key individuals involved in the 
definition and evolution of the standard.

<<UML>> 2001 takes place during the work on the  next  major
revision  of UML, UML 2.0, and will have a strong bearing on 
the standard.It will provide a forum for lively and exciting 
debate on key issues of the moment, and will be held in  one 
of the most exciting  cities in North America. Highlights of 
the programme include:

Invited talks from Werner Damm, John Mylopoulos, Jim Rumbaugh
    
A quality technical programme of papers, tutorials, workshops, 
and panels, covering the development and  application of  UML 
and its possible supercedants.


The Venue

The City of  Toronto  is the biggest canadian city (about 4,5
millions people) and the financial center of the country.  It 
has  been called the  most multicultural  city in  the world, 
hosting more than 50,000 new immigrants per year,and boasting 
more than 100 languages spoken by some of its  citizens.  The 
Conference will take place in the Sheraton Centre Hotel.

The Sheraton  Centre is  located in  downtown  Toronto within 
walking distance of the CN Tower, the Skydome, the Air Canada 
Centre,  the  University  of Toronto, the Eaton  Center,  the 
harbour front, the Ontario Lake and other Toronto attractions.

The  Banquet  will take place at  the  top  of  the  CN tower.
Defining the Toronto skyline, the CN Tower is  Canada's  most 
recognizable  and celebrated  icon.  At a height of  553.33 m 
(1,815 ft., 5 inches), it is the World's Tallest Building and 
Free Standing Structure, an important telecommunications hub, 
and the centre of tourism in Toronto.
