If you have *not* configured your "modem location information" previously, you must configure it now, or else Windows will not allow you to use the native VPN client. If you have configured it previously, skip this step. This has to be done, even if you do not have a modem!
b. In the Location Information window, enter your:
a.) country
b.) area code
Click OK, and click OK in the Phone And Modem Options window
c. In the Network Connection Wizard window:
Click Next -> select Connect to a VPN through the Internet -> Next
Enter "pptp.cs.toronto.edu" for the Destination Address -> Next
Under Connection Availability toggle Only For Myself -> Next
Assign the connection a name of choice (e.g. CSLAB) -> Finish
d. Now a new window will pop up called Connect Virtual Private Connection.
Click Properties -> select the Security tab -> toggle Advanced [custom settings] ->
Click Settings and make the following configuration changes:
a. Data encryption: Require encryption
b. Deselect: Microsoft CHAP [MS-CHAP]
c. Select: Microsoft CHAP Version Version 2 [MS-CHAP v2]
d. Deselect: For MS-CHAP based protocols, automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)
Click OK to return to the Connect Virtual Private Connection window.
e. Finally, enter both your username and password assigned to you by us, and click Connect.
