In addition to the many mailing lists controlled by individuals and groups, the DCS office maintains a small number of mailing lists that are "authoritative" collections of individuals in the department. The lists are intended for announcements and not as a forum for discussion. We are currently not controlling access to the lists and ask only that their intended use be respected.
The four main lists are the following:
dcs-all grad announcements + faculty announcements + staff announcements + dcs-visitors grad-announcements grad students + on leave students + any special requests faculty-announcements faculty + csa faculty + term instructors + ras-pdfs + any special requests staff-announcements office staff + technical staff + any special requests
To avoid confusion with the lists below, the old mailing lists called "dcsgrads", "dcsprofs" and "support-staff" have been removed. In their place, the "grad-announcements", "faculty-announcements" and "staff-announcements" lists should be used.
The remaining lists are collections of people generated daily from the dcsweb database of individuals. Changes to this database get reflected in these mailing lists the following day.
dcs-visitors visitors (faculty or students) registered in the dcsweb database grad-students active graduate students in DCS onleave-students graduate students currently on leave msc-students active MSc graduate students in DCS phd-students active PhD graduate students in DCS ras-pdfs research associates and post-doctoral fellows term-instructors external individuals hired to teach courses supervisors individuals currently serving as supervisors to graduate students faculty (see below) csa-faculty (see below) bahen-faculty DCS faculty members with an office in Bahen pratt-faculty DCS faculty members with an office in Pratt fleming-faculty DCS faculty members with an office in Sandford Fleming office-staff DCS office staff tech-staff DCS technical staff (includes CSLAB, CDF, and the POCs)
The "faculty" mailing lists includes both the teaching and research faculty at all three campuses, including emeritus professors who remain active in DCS. It also includes faculty who have a joint appointment with other departments, where there is a budgetary commitment from DCS. It does not include the "csa-faculty" which are the cross-appointments, status-only appointments and adjunct appointments in DCS (csa = cross, status-only, and adjunct).
Any comments, complaints or suggestions about these lists should be directed to the Vice Chair.
