All accounts have a sponsor (generally a departmental research faculty member) who is responsible for that account. That sponsor will normally be a graduate student's research supervisor. Accounts are retained until the sponsor says otherwise. For example, it is up to the sponsor how long a graduate student's account will be retained after graduation.
