Overview

overview

The Computer Networks Research Group at UofT aims to provide a rigorous basis for the design of next-generation computer networks. We engage in both theoretical and experimental research: while we use modeling and analytical techniques to study fundamental problems in computer networks, we also conduct experimental studies and build real systems.

Prospective Students

The Computer Networks Research group is a divers research laboratory where graduate students (M.Sc., Ph.D. and Postdoc programs) carry out their research. Our research interest varies widely from interesting thoeretical problems to advanced experimental studies.

Announcements

New term begins!

The orientation week of Fall 2008 begins on September 2nd. Welcome our new group members!

Gabriel Scalosub joined our group

Gabriel Gabriel Scalosub is joining us for a postdoc doing research in the areas of wireless and online social networks.

Research Topics

  • Online Social Networks
    • The way we interact and share information over the Internet...
  • Sizing Buffers in Internet Routers
    • The buffers need to be fast, and so ideally they should be small enough..
  • Peer-to-Peer Networks
    • A P2P network has no centralized management but all network functionalities are provided by the peers...
  • Rate Control and Scheduling in Wireless Networks
    • Rate control is one of the most important problems in computer networks. If input rates to a network are left uncontrolled...
  • Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks
    • A wireless ad hoc network is a collection of nodes which form a network independently of any fixed base station infrastructure...
