Call for Papers -- RETR 2005 1st International Workshop on Reverse Engineering To Requirements Pittsburgh, USA November 7, 2005 (collocated with WCRE 2005) http://www.cs.toronto.edu/km/retr ------------------------------------------------------------------ Reverse engineering aims at *extracting many kinds of information from existing software, such as requirements specifications, design documents, and system artifacts*, and *using this information in system renovation and program understanding* [WCRE]. Existing *reverse engineering* methods focus on recovering architecture and design of software products that are often represented in standard formats such as UML, GXL or ADL. However, few methods *recover requirements* such as goals of the various stakeholders, non-functional requirements, early aspects, variability trade-offs and dynamic/emergent behavior of autonomic systems. Therefore a forum is needed to discuss the issues related to recovering requirements. It can enable the reverse engineered software systems to continuously adapt to the evolving functional requirements, and to be re-engineered to meet the non-functional requirements. The goal of this full day WCRE'05 workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in developing methods and techniques for Reverse Engineering to Requirements (RETR). The objective of the workshop is to sketch the state-of-the-art of the RETR practice and to identify current trends and fields of interest, possible paths of collaboration and points of future research directions. ------------------------------------------------------------------ IMPORTANT DATES Papers submission: October 7, 2005 (extended) Notification of authors: October 17, 2005 Camera ready versions: October 25, 2005 Presentation submission: October 31, 2005 (new) Workshop Date: November 7, 2005 ------------------------------------------------------------------ POSITION PAPERS: Participants of RETR 2005 are asked to submit papers relating to the scope of the workshop. Papers must be original and previously unpublished. The organizing committee will oversee the reviewing process.
