Prestigious Killam Fellowships, deadline 15 Jan 07

Killam Fellowships, worth $10,000 US each, allow exceptional Canadian students to study in the US for a year. Matthew Boulos, a recent CS grad, won a Killam during his studies here and spent his Killam year at MIT. "I was surrounded by stunningly sharp minds ... Ideas were flying at any given moment. Out in the hallway, Goodwill Hunting-moments (equations on chalkboards, funny Boston accents) happened with an absurdly high frequency and through it all I thanked the good Lord that I had spent the previous three years at UofT." Sound amazing? Applications are due Jan 15.

"Games 4 Girls" competition, registration deadline 19 Jan 07

In the Games 4 Girls Competition, teams up to five college women to create computer games specifically designed to be fun for middle or high school age women. Top prize is $1000 per team member. Organized by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (a top CS department).
