DCS Distinguished Lecture Series
The Department of Computer Science has invited eight prominent individuals to speak as part of the annual Distinguished Lecture Series. The 2007-08 group includes the brightest minds in computer science, including world-renowed professors and leaders in industry. This is a public event; registration is not required. Awards
DCS is proud to announce that five faculty members are recipients of the 2007 Discovery Accelerator Supplements: Ravin Balakrishnan, Eyal de Lara, Sheila McIlraith, Toniann Pitassi and Sam Roweis. The Discovery awards were created this year by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada to recognize outstanding researchers who are on the verge of significant breakthroughs. Only 50 Discovery awards were given throughout Canada in all areas of science and engineering. For more information on these prestigious awards and more, visit our awards page.

For the third year in a row, the department is holding the alumni mentorship program. This program matches up 3rd and 4th year students with individuals from a variety of sectors in the GTA, giving them an opportunity to get career advice and learn about life after graduation.
