CRM-Fields-PIMS Prize

Awards

Faculty member Allan Borodin is the recipient of the 2008 CRM-Fields-PIMS prize in recognition of his outstanding achievement and fundamental contributions to many areas, including algebraic computations, resource tradeoffs, routing in interconnection networks, parallel algorithms, online algorithms, and adversarial queuing theory. Established in 1994, this award recognizes exceptional research in the mathematical sciences, and is given by the Centre de recherches mathematiques (CRM), the Fields Institute and the Pacific Institute of Mathematical Sciences (PIMS). EVENTS & PROGRAMS

Prospective Student Open House
This year's departmental Open House will take place on Saturday, March 15. High School students looking at computer science are invited to see all the department has to offer. See our Open House webpage here.

Gr8 Designs for Gr8 Girls
For the second year in a row, the department is hosting an activity day for Grade 8 girls who would like to learn more about computer science. Hosted by DCS, the Faculty of Arts & Science and Google, participants develop computer science skills and work on creative projects. This year's Gr8 Designs for Gr8 Girls day will be on Thursday, May 8. Click here for more information.

Mark your calendars! The department is hosting its sixth annual spring reunion reception on the evening of Thursday, May 29. The event will take place at the Bahen Centre for Information Technology. More details will be available soon; the University of Toronto Spring Reunion website is found here. Honoured years are those ending in '3 and '8, but all DCS alumni are welcome to attend our reception!
