Basic Research Resources
- A good searchable bibliography for database and data
mining literature: DBLP Bibliography Server. DBLP is a good
starting point for finding papers related to a given topic
or papers by a specific author or group. In addition, it has
links to on-line versions of many of the papers.
- The Research
Index for Computer Science also has a large collection
of CS publications indexed by keyword and linked by citation
structure. This can be extremely useful if you have an
article and want to find follow-up work or any later work
that cites the article.
- Both DBLP and the Research Index have links to on-line
versions of many papers. But you can also use a standard
search engine like Google to find papers.
Often a search on the paper title will reveal sites with
on-line cached (publicly available) copies of the paper.
(Note that this often works for ACM and IEEE papers for
which you might need a membership to access the copies in
their digital libraries.)

- Data on the
Net (University of California-San Diego, USA) A
searchable repository of annotated links to downloadable
data, data archive home pages, data catalogues, and
distributors and vendors of data. Contains links to sites
with census data, geographic data, social science data, etc.

- UCI Knowledge
Discovery in Databases Archive This is an online
repository of relatively large data sets which encompasses a
wide variety of data types, analysis tasks, and application
areas. The primary role of this repository is to enable
researchers in knowledge discovery and data mining to scale
existing and future data analysis algorithms to very large
and complex data sets.
- UCI
Machine Learning Repository Contains several small data
sets with a variety of data characteristics, including some
high dimensional data sets.
