I want to expand my sights in computer science.

Computing Insights will introduce you to facets of computer science that you may have never considered. You might learn how a JPEG file represents an image, how a search engine like Google decides which pages to show you first, or why we can't simply tell computers what to do in plain English. Computer science is so much more than programming!

I want to learn more about what computers can do.

CI provides students with an experience beyond what can be learned at home or in high school. The depth of expertise, the resources – you cannot get this information anywhere else! The added bonus is that students are given the opportunity to work on projects that are suited to their ability and interests, and the time to experiment with ideas. This is the ideal environment for a high school student who wants to take their computer science knowledge to the next level.

I want to experience university life.

Think of it as a sneak preview of post-secondary student life. The lectures at Computing Insights are given by UofT faculty – people who do research on the topics they'll be talking about. The teaching assistants supervising the labs are computer science students, and you will be on campus surrounded by Department of Computer Science students. For the week, you get to attend university level lectures, work on challenging projects and soak up the atmosphere of campus.

I'd like to know if computer science is the right career path for me.

Computing Insights isn't only intended for students who are already know that they want to continue their education in computer science.
