Terms and Conditions of Account Usage

  1. Access to this computing facility is a privilege which may be revoked at any time by your sponsor.

  2. Some of the software available on the system is provided under license. You agree to hold such software in confidence, not to take copies of licensed or restricted software away from the machines of the facility, and not to make such software available to anyone outside the facility. You will ask the system staff about the status of any software not explicitly in the public domain. You may be held legally responsible if you violate this clause.

  3. Your account is for your research-related needs only. Do not let anyone else use your account, regardless of whether they already have access to the computing facility. It is your duty to protect the privacy of your account through proper choice and protection of your password. You agree to make responsible use of any facility that circumvents password checking. Violation of this clause is grounds for immediate suspension of your account.

  4. System staff will take whatever action they judge appropriate to ensure continued operation of the facility and to protect its integrity. This may include editing, moving, removing or archiving some of your files if they are causing problems, as well as terminating or altering priority of your running processes, limiting your privileges, or temporarily suspending your account.

  5. Sensitive information should not be stored in private files or sent by electronic mail, since neither can be guaranteed to be secure.
