Computer Science Graduate Student Benevolent Society

Picnic.jpg

The Computer Science Graduate Student Benevolent Society (CSGSBS) is the official body representing computer science graduate students at the University of Toronto. We act as liaison between the students and the department and work to ensure that graduate student concerns are heard. We also hold a number of social events to strengthen the graduate student community.

In the past, CSGSBS has organized events such as pub nights, parties, movie nights, coffee/tea/cookie breaks, and has also helped organize teams for various sports and kept the pop machine in the grad lounges well stocked.

Second-Year Learning Communities (SLC's)

Second-Year Learning Communities (SLCs) are designed to support students entering a Computer Science program of study (Major or Specialist) by providing them with further opportunities to build connections with their classmates and the wider computer science community.

Women in Computer Science

WICS+header2.jpg

We provide a supportive environment for our female students to learn and thrive. We are an informal group of female graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty members from the department (DCS).
We have monthly lunches where we socialize and spend time together. During these meetings we often pick a topic of interest and discuss it amongst ourselves, or invite guest speakers to talk about an interesting topic or idea.
