A Long Tradition
Since time immemorial, the graduate students in the department of computer science have held a weekly gathering, a social event remembered ever after. Many a lifelong friendship has been forged. I once asked an old-timer what he remembered most of her student days, and she replied: Oh, these wonderful cookie breaks! If only I could go back in time, and enjoy one more cookie break...Our Benevolent Society generously subsidizes the cookie breaks. But it is not the Society that forms the cookie break community; it is the members of the community, the graduate students. You! We count on you to selflessly volunteer and host a cookie break, once in a while. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated. Cast your bread on the surface of the waters, for you will find it after many days.
Tradition demands that each new graduate student hold at least one cookie break, preferably home-made cookies. Contact the cookie monster (filmus.yuval at gmail). Your budget is five and twenty dollars.
The Venues
Cookie break is held this semester every Wednesday at 5PM. The different buildings hosting the graduate students take turns physically hosting the cookie break:- SF: The Sandford Fleming lounge is located on the third floor, room 3204 (not to be confused with the theory lab, SF4302). The SF lounge sports a Fussball table, and is exceptionally clean.
- BA: The Bahen lounge is located on the fifth floor, room 5250. Located on the newest comp-sci building on campus, the Bahen lounge sports an excellent view toward downtown, including the iconic CN tower. Due to its proximity to the majority of graduate students, it is the most popular lounge.
- PT: The Pratt lounge is located on the second floor, room 283E. Smallish and hidden, this gem is often overlooked. Guarantees select attendance.
